The DeLay UnRule

In his letter about his vote on the DeLay Rule, Doc indicates that the rule was put in place essentially to embarrass Democrats who had a ranking member under indictment. The idea was to claim some higher moral ground than the opposition. But since that didn't acheive the desired effect it was OK in Doc's mind to rescind the rule and go back to the same moral level.

But at the last minute it was decided that it wasn't such a good idea to give the high ground away. So the rule goes back is place. Even if it means trouble for DeLay.
